Friday, AMU Students Union organised a Protest March at Aligarh Muslim University against the killings in Kashmir and called upon the Indian Government to end use of pellets guns and laws like AFSPA.
Students unanimously passed a resolution condemning the use of force in Kashmir, calling an end to curbs on democratic means of public protests and asked Indian Govt. to engage in a political dialogue for the resolution of Kashmir.
Secretary AMUSU, Fahad said that PM should walk the track of embracing the people of Kashmir through dialogue and democratic means, and the state should end militaristic approach against the Muslims of Kashmir.
Vice President, AMU Students Union, Sajad Subhan Rather said, "India has liberated itself from British and it must value the people's freedom in Kashmir as well, and fulfil the promises made to people of Kashmir. He condemned the use of pellets guns and called end to black laws like AFSPA and PSA in the state.
Research Scholar, Waseem addressed the protest and said, 'APSPA is the violation of international law and all international organisations have condemned it as a draconian law. It must be repealed to allow democracy function in the state. Kashmir is not a problem of terrorism, instead it is the broken promises by the Indian state that have led to alienation of people in Kashmir. India should engage in dialogue with Kashmiris to end the stalemate.
The students expressed their concern over the curfew like restrictions and closure of schools and college in the valley. They expressed their worries against the firing in hospitals and localities. The shouted slogans Down with AFSPA and Stop Violence: Start dialogue.
